The Secret

The other day I watched the movie “The Secret” again.

It’s about the connection between our thoughts/feelings/beliefs and our experiences in the world. Or the link between the internal (spiritual) and the external (material) world.

If you don’t know the movie yet, here’s the first 20 minutes on youtube.

The Main Thesis

“Normal View”: Our observation of the world form our thoughts, feelings, and beliefs about the world. That means we first observe then we form our view based on the observation.

View of the movie: We create the experiences in the real world from our thoughts, feelings and beliefs. This is the other way around from the “normal view”!

The Law of Attraction

You attract what you think about most.

“The law of attraction is always at work. You can never escape it. Everything that is in your live now you attracted it. If you understand this law then you understand the secret how to choose the things you want to attract.”

“Focus your thoughts on what you want; not on you don’t want.”

Feelings

Do we need to observe each and every thought? No, that would be a lot of effort. Look at your feelings. If you feel good (fun, love, enthusiasm, joy, …) you’re on the right track. Keep doing what you’re doing. If you feel bad (anger, hatred, frustration, sorrow, …) you’re not on the right track. You should change your focus.

“What you’re feeling is a perfect reflection of what is on the way of becoming.”

The Process of Creation

1. Ask for what you want.
2. The universe answers.
3. Receive.

To receive you must create the feeling in you that you already have what you want. How? You need a new focus of your thoughts.

Gratitude
One possibility is to feel grateful for all the things that are already in your life: experiences, people, your attributes.

Visualize
Another is to visualize what you exactly want by imagining yourself in the desired situation with as many details and as vividly as possible. What do you see, hear, feel?

My Comment

If you watch the movie you could come to the conclusion that you could achieve everything just by sitting at home, feeling grateful and visualize the things you would like to have. That is not the case. You still have to go out and work for your goals. Still I’m convinced that it helps big time if you think right, ie. if you focus on what you want and ignore what you don’t want.

Here’s a short interview with Michael Beckwith from The Secret:
